Indigestion - #1 Physical Cause of Lack of Sleep - part II

In the previous part about indigestion as a cause for lack of sleep, we introduced the subject and analyzed who is most likely to suffer from indigestion, and listed the different types of indigestion, as physical, emotional and mental.

In the second part we will continue our discussion on how indigestion affects lack of sleep. One of the most common manifestation of indigestion is flatulency. Flatulency, the immediate provoker of sleeplessness, often has its worst effects, when we are not conscious of its existence at all, by eructation or expulsion of gas. Usually when we suffer from it, we are aware that we want to eliminate the gas from our body. However when the body tolerates it, we get pain around the heart area.

One of the easiest cures for flatulency, to eliminate lack of sleep, is a glass of hot water before bed to which can be added a drop or two of peppermint essence. If this is unsuccessful (in seldom cases), we can also use a teaspoon of cardamon tincture.

Additionally we can also use a hot pillow or water bag on the abdomen.

These home remedies should be taken a half hour before going to bed, as the movements involved in undressing facilitate the expulsion of gas from the stomach either by eructation or by sweeping it into small intestines where contact with the bile, which is antiseptic, prevents further fermentation, which is a good thing.

Sometimes, if these simple home remedies to eliminate flatulency and cure lack of sleep are not adequate or are not working, consulting a doctor is the best, as the content of the stomach needs to be analysed to find the cause of fermentation.

As soon as flatulency is eliminated, a lot of people will benefit and get back to regular sleep. Lack of sleep doesn’t necessarily always mean there is a weird, mystical, allusive cause to it. Sometimes it is as simple as indigestion, or flatulency.
