Lack of sleep symptom of stress

Sometimes lack of sleep is an illness by itself. At other times though, lack of sleep is a symptom of something else more serious, of one of the byproducts of our modern lifestyle, called nervous tension, or stress.

Lack of sleep – Rich and Wealthy vs. Poor

I’ve read recently a short study (wish I remembered where it was) about the relation between lack of sleep, or insomnia, and the rich, vs. the poor.

Although common sense would seem to point out that the poor are mostly suffering from lack of sleep, due to their financial and living problems, the study showed that the situation might be just opposite to this.

It seems that the wealthier a person is, the better chances to become an insomniac.
Apparently it is remarkable how little complains one hears in hospitals from the poorer classes.
One of the results the study came to was that one reason for this poor vs rich shift is that poor are less haunted by such problems as overfeeding, inertia, idleness, self-absorption and ennui.

Indigestion – #1 Physical Cause of Lack of Sleep – part I

Lack of sleep in one form or another,  accompanies nearly every illness, but it occurs also in entirely healthy people. In the majority of cases it is a state of mind originated in fear and apprehension. Frequently, however, it can also have an immediate physical cause, such as indigestion, or toothache.

Maybe one of the most acute problems that cause insomnia is indigestion. People often ignore it, thus failing to cure their lack of sleep right from the start. Read the rest of this entry »
